Student opportunities and activities
At Sutherland Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our extra-curricular highlights, clubs and other opportunities
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Band
Our school has a well-established band program led by an outstanding group of band tutors. We offer both a training band and performance band. This fantastic program offers true enrichment to our students in the school.
Dance
We have two extra-curricular dance groups at SPS. Our Maroon & Yellow dance groups learn new routines each year to perform at concerts and showcases. It is a rewarding and enjoyable experience for selected students.
Chess Club
Selected students can join our SPS team and compete against other local schools on a Friday afternoon.
Our younger students can practice their skills in the playground too!
Knitting Club
Get creative at our knitting club!
Wellbeing Garden & Gardening Club
Our Wellbeing Garden has blossomed into a beautiful sanctuary that encourages students to slow down, connect with nature and each other, and care for a shared space.
