Learn how to enrol at our school. Our school has a mainstream and an opportunity classes.
Opportunity classes are for high potential and gifted students in Year 5 and 6. Parents apply when students are at the end Year 3 or the beginning of Year 4 for placement in Year 5. It is a 2-year program (Year 5 to 6). Parents cannot apply for Year 6 placement only.

How to enrol to Sutherland Public School
Every child has the right to access quality public education in their local community. If you live in our local intake area, start your journey to join our vibrant school community today. Follow these key steps:
- Check your eligibility: use School Finder to confirm if your address is within our local intake area.
- Read: other enrolment details for our school. (you will need to have some documents ready to upload)
- Apply online: complete our online enrolment application.

How to apply for entry into our opportunity class
Unlike NSW public schools, there are no intake areas for opportunity classes. Enrolment is by placement only. You can apply to up to 4 schools.
Apply online
Steps:
- Visit Selective high school and opportunity class placement
- Register to start your application.
- Verify your email address
- Log in
- Complete all sections of the application form
- Submit the application form
- Student sits the placement test
- Family is advised of the outcome.
- Once you have accepted a place you will be sent enrolment procedures.
Late applications
The application period cannot be extended. Make sure you submit your application before the closing date. For more information, check key dates.
Other enrolment details for our school
When completing an online enrolment, please have the following ready in a digital format for uploading;
- Identity document for your child
- Immunisation history statement for your child
- Residential address evidence - download 100-Point guide
- Any other relevant documents such as, medical plans, court documents, etc

School contributions
In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.

Visiting our school
Starting a new school is a big step. We're here to help make the transition a smooth and positive experience for every student and their family. We offer the following opportunities to meet our friendly staff, explore our school facilities, and see what makes our school a great place to learn:
- an annual Open Day held in May for prospective students
- three transition sessions for Kindergarten held in Term 4 the year prior to starting
- an Opportunity Class Open Day for prospective students, by invitation
- Opportunity Class transition day held in Term 4 for newly enrolled OC Students
- for all mainstream students, an interview and school tour once an online enrolment has been completed.
These aim to help you and your child feel prepared for starting school.
